[ Date: 2017.12.28 ]
[ Co-Chairs: mod6 [R.01] && ben_vulpes [R.02] ]
It is with great honor and privilege that The Bitcoin Foundation embraces
this opportunity to address the public on the state of current progress,
obstacles and continuing steps in our mission.
asciilifeform [R.03] contributed an EXPERIMENTAL vpatch [R.04] via the
BTC-Dev Mailing List [R.05]. This experimental vpatch requests blocks from
all nodes that send a version message.
ben_vulpes contributed a vpatch `excise hash truncation' [R.06] that
eliminates all hash truncation in trb logs.
ben_vulpes contributed an EXPERIMENTAL vpatch [R.07] that continues in the
same vein as the vpatch [R.04], removing the MAX_OUTBOUND_CONNECTIONS and
[Updates To Advertised Republican Nodes]:
asciilifeform's `zoolag' re-added to the list.
pete_dushenski's [R.08] second node added to the list.
Bingo_Boingo's [R.09] node added to the list.
The full list of Advertised Republican Nodes can be viewed here [R.0A].
jurov [R.0B] and mod6 collaborated to create a deedbot [R.0C] mirror [R.0D].
mod6 updated the ``Creating, Naming, and Submitting a Vpatch'' guide [R.0E]
where a specific addition is inserted to advise users:
NOTE: No PGP clearsigned material in vpatches. Also, no '--- ' or '+++ '
as the first four characters of any line. You have been warned! [R.0F].
The conversation continued, and about a week later, phf [R.10] began work on
a proper vdiff tool [R.11].
0x02]: Complications and Obstacles
A defect was found [R.12] in mod6's V (99994) where if you have greater than
one leaf in the flow, and you select to press all of the way through the
flow, you could end up pressing leafs that you didn't intend to press [R.13].
mod6 is working towards a correction to this problem, curbing all other
current non-mission critical efforts.
Three new tickets were also added to the V project. A ticket to track the
aforementioned defect [R.14], one as a change request to fail informatively
[R.15], and lastly one to document all of mod6's vtron and the rules that it
has implemented stemming from congressional discourse [R.16].
0x03]: Continuing Steps
Early in the month, mod6 was doing investigatory work within the trb wallet.
This work will continue when the defect in mod6's vtron are fixed.
The Bitcoin Foundation would like to bestow our sincerest thanks and
gratitude to the contributors and community for its support and insight.
